Profile:	Gautam is the Vice President of Telecom Service Provider Unit for the Americas. In this role he is responsible for sales, delivery and operations for all Strategic Accounts. In addition, he is also responsible for sales to all telcos in the Americas. Wipro is a billion dollar company providing Software, Infrastructure, Call Center, and Business Process Outsourcing services. Prior to this, Gautam spent 16 years in the communications industry. In his varied career, he has successfully served in many leadership positions with Lucent/AT&T in three continents. In his last assignment at Lucent, Gautam was the Managing Director of Network Solutions for the Asia Pacific region. In this capacity, he launched a $300m next-generation solutions business with deployments in a number of countries. Some solutions he brought to market were advanced packet voice, IP services, migration to 2.5G/3G, hosted services, multi-services core, and broadband access. Prior to this, Gautam managed the Intelligent Network/Softswitch business for the Asia Pacific region where he held the post of Market Management Director, Communication Software Group. He also established a software development center with P.T. Telkom in Indonesia, when he was the Regional Technical Center Director. In this capacity, Gautam led a cross company organization to successfully bring distance learning, intelligent networking and service assurance technologies to the region. Prior to these key assignments, Gautam worked in Lucent's world-renowned Bell Laboratories in New Jersey (USA), holding a number of key roles including overseeing network operations consulting, reliability engineering, network planning and program management of deployments in the US and Italy. Gautam graduated with a Bachelors of Technology (Electrical Engineering) from the Institute of Technology, New Delhi, India in 1984. He obtained his Masters of Science (Computer Science) from Rutgers University, New Jersey, USA in 1986. He was in the Leadership Continuity program at Lucent, a mechanism to groom top management talent. As part of this program, he attended mini-MBA programs in Finance, Marketing, and General Management.
